They include the intricate embroidery of Cantonese and Su embroidery, the delicate porcelain-firing traditions, time-honored wood and stone carving arts, exquisite gold and silver metalwork, and ancient techniques of papermaking, ink production, and printing. Over centuries, these crafts have evolved, developing distinctive regional styles and aesthetic systems that encapsulate the dedication and wisdom of generations of artisans.

The Foundation adopts a dual-track approach to safeguarding traditional crafts: systematically documenting and archiving their processes and cultural contexts through field research, visual records, craft genealogies, and digitized databases; and fostering integration with modern life. For example, we collaborate with internationally acclaimed designers to merge Lingnan woodcarving with contemporary home design, and partner with fashion brands to incorporate traditional embroidery into modern clothing collections, bringing ancient craftsmanship to life on the runway.

We have established “Heritage Craft Studios” and a “Young Artisans Program” to provide apprenticeships, overseas exchange opportunities, and entrepreneurship support for young people passionate about learning traditional crafts. Through collaborations with museums, art academies, and creative hubs, we bring these crafts into public spaces and international exhibitions, allowing more people to touch, experience, and appreciate these cultural treasures.

Preserving and innovating traditional crafts is not only a cultural necessity but also an economic opportunity. The cultural and creative industries, art markets, and tourism sectors provide fertile ground for sustainable development.
